Rules & help

The rules If you break them Common questions
Gamer-Island is meant to be a place younger players can use without their parents worrying. These are the rules that keep it that way. They apply everywhere on the site: the forum, private messages, group walls, item names and pictures, your profile, and your avatar.

Be kind

1Treat people the way you would want to be treated. No bullying, name-calling, threats or ganging up on someone. You can disagree with a person without being nasty to them, and if a conversation is going badly, walk away rather than escalating it.

Keep it family-friendly

2Nothing sexual, gory, hateful or frightening. That covers slurs and prejudice of any kind, real-world violence, drugs and alcohol, and anything you would not be comfortable with a ten-year-old reading. It applies to pictures and names as much as to what you write.

Keep personal details private

3Do not post your full name, address, school, phone number, email or social media, and do not ask anyone else for theirs. This is the rule staff enforce most strictly, because it is the one that can actually hurt you. If someone asks you for personal details, report it.

Be yourself

4Do not pretend to be another member, or to be staff. Staff will never ask for your password, and anyone who does is trying to steal your account.

One person, a couple of accounts

5A small number of extra accounts is fine. What is not fine is using them to farm bux, badges, streaks or votes, to send yourself items, or to dodge a punishment. If we find accounts being used that way, every account involved is penalised, including the one you actually play on.

Trade honestly

6Agree a trade and then go through with it. No "send yours first and I will send mine after", no changing the offer at the last moment, no pretending an item is something it is not. Every trade shows you exactly what you get before you accept, so read it.

Report bugs, do not farm them

7If something is broken in your favour, tell us instead of repeating it. Bux and items gained from a bug get reversed either way, and reporting it is the difference between a thank-you and a moderation action.

Make your own things

8Items you submit must be your own work. Do not upload, trace or edit somebody else's art, and do not copy another creator on the island. Anything that is not yours will be removed.

Earn rewards honestly

9Streaks, badges and bux are for taking part. Posting nonsense to keep a streak alive, messaging people junk or making empty trades to farm rewards will lose you those rewards and can cost you posting privileges.

Real money stays out of it

10Bux and items are not worth real money and cannot be swapped for it. Do not buy or sell accounts, bux or items for cash, gift cards or anything from another game, and do not ask anyone here for money.

Use the report button

11If you see something that breaks these rules, report it and let staff handle it. Do not reply to bait, do not take it into your own hands, and do not report things that are simply annoying you: false reports waste the time of the people trying to help.

What happens if you break them

Most rule-breaking is a first mistake and gets treated like one. Staff will usually remove what was posted and give you a warning explaining what was wrong. Repeating it, or doing something serious in the first place, leads to a suspension, and a ban if it carries on.

Anything staff do to your account is written down, with the reason, on your moderation page, which you can read once you are signed in. Nothing happens to you silently. If staff later decide an action was a mistake, it is withdrawn and stops counting against you.

A few things skip the warning: anything sexual involving minors, credible threats, sharing another member's personal details, and account theft. Those are immediate bans, and the serious ones get reported to the appropriate authorities.

A ban is the end of the account. The items in it, the bux in it and anything else it holds are gone with it, and they are not moved to another account or handed back later. Anything you bought from us is covered by the refund terms, which is to say it is not refunded.

Think a decision was wrong? Message any of the staff and say so plainly. Staff make mistakes and would rather fix one than defend it. Making a second account to argue about it, though, turns a suspension into a ban.

Common questions

How do I earn bux?
Log in each day for a bonus that grows with your streak, post on the forum across several days in a week, sell items you have made, and trade or sell on the market. The full guide to earning bux breaks down every route and what each one pays.
How do I change my avatar?
Anything you own can be equipped from your avatar page. Changes apply straight away and your look is redrawn everywhere on the site.
How do I create and sell an item?
Use Create an item on the store. Every submission is checked by staff before it goes on sale. If it is turned down you are told why, and you are welcome to fix it and submit again. Once it is live you earn from it every time somebody buys it, minus the same sales tax that applies to trades and the market.
What are limited items and the market?
Limited items exist in a fixed number and each copy carries its own serial. Once they sell out the only way to get one is from another member: owners can list a copy on that item's page, and buying it transfers that exact serial to you. Bux you receive from a sale are taxed, and the amount you will actually walk away with is always shown before you agree to anything.
How does trading work?
Send an offer from someone's profile with items, bux, or both on either side. Nothing moves until they accept, and you can withdraw an offer any time before that. Everything in flight is on your trades page.
What are achievements and badges?
Badges are earned by taking part: posting, making friends, creating items, trading and collecting. They are status only and pay no bux, and you pick which ones lead on your profile. See every achievement you can earn.
What is Island Club?
The island's membership: double daily bonuses, a longer daily streak, a monthly bux stipend, lower tax on money you receive, profile themes and a members-only lounge. See everything included.
What are groups?
Communities you can create or join, each with its own wall. Browse them on the groups page. New groups pass through moderation before everyone can see them.
How do I message someone?
From their profile, or start a new one on the messages page. You can block anyone you would rather not hear from, and blocked members cannot message you.
Someone is breaking the rules. What do I do?
Use the report button on the profile, item, post, comment or message in question and tell us what is wrong. Staff review every report, and you can see what you reported and how it was resolved on your moderation page.
Has action been taken against my account?
Your moderation page lists anything staff have done to your account, and why. If an action is later withdrawn it stops counting against you, and that is shown there too.
I found a bug.
Please tell us on the forum with as much detail as you can: what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead. Screenshots help.
