You can now trade with other islanders! Open someone's profile, hit Trade, and offer your limited items and bux for theirs. Limited items also have a Market on their item page, where owners can offer their exact copy (serial number and all) for sale and anyone can snap it up.

Cash received through trades and market sales is taxed 15%, or just 10% for Island Club members. The trade screen shows you exactly what you'll receive before you agree, so there are no surprises.

Gamer-Island now has a membership: the Island Club. Members get a stack of perks, and the list has been growing by the day:

• Three exclusive profile themes: Sunset Lagoon, Abyssal Depths and Arcade Nights
• The Island Club rank while you're a member, and a member badge that stays forever
• Lifetime members earn an exclusive glowing badge
• Double the daily login bonus, with streaks building to day 7 instead of 5
• A 100 bux stipend every month of membership, no login required
• The Members Lounge, a members-only corner of the forum
• Your name shimmers gold across the island
• Your items and groups jump the moderation queue, and your trade offers appear first
• Lower market tax: 10% instead of 15% on cash you receive
• Longer memberships earn gift months to give to friends: one for a three-month term, three for a year

It was discovered that a long-standing bug let the daily login bonus pay out more than once a day, and a few balances grew far beyond what was intended. The bug has been fixed, the affected balances corrected, and items bought with the extra bux returned to the store, with every change itemised in the affected players' transaction histories and personal messages. Everyone's account now sits where it would if the bug had never existed. Thanks for keeping the island fair.

Gamer-Island has been rebuilt from the ground up.

The whole site now runs on a modern, faster foundation — the latest versions of everything under the hood, quicker page loads, and a cleaner layout that finally works properly on phones and tablets. We've dropped the old, slower bits along the way and brought the whole look up to date.

We've spent real time making the site quick.

• Avatars and images are processed with a much faster engine - rendering an avatar is now around ten times quicker than before
• Big lists like the members page load in smoothly as you scroll, instead of all at once
• We hunted down and cut a pile of behind-the-scenes slowdowns

Logging in and searching are more forgiving too: your username is no longer case-sensitive, and searches across members, the store and groups ignore capital letters.

Your inbox just had a complete makeover. Messages now look and feel like a proper chat:

• A clean conversation list with avatars, previews and unread markers
• Chat bubbles for every reply, so conversations are easy to follow
• Folders to keep everything organised - file a chat away and find it later
• Select several conversations at once to mark read, archive or move them in one go
• An unread-only filter and mark-all-read for zero-inbox bliss
• Compose to several people at once, with search to find them fast

Got an account from the old site? It's waiting for you — and you don't need to sign up again. Your original username and password still work no matter how old the account is; just log in and you're back in.

We've carefully carried everything across:

• Your whole inventory, and the exact avatar you were wearing
• Your private messages, including what you'd already read
• Your forum posts (even threads started by members who've long since left)
• Your Bux balance and your ranks

Limited items keep their serial numbers, so your rare pieces stay rare, and everyone's starter avatar and default items have been set up properly. Welcome back!

Shopping on Gamer-Island is better than ever. You can buy items straight from the store, and every purchase is recorded to your account.

New touches include:

• A 'My Items' view showing everything you own
• Owned and in-stock badges, so you know what you've already got and how many are left
• A clear Limited indicator on the rare stuff, with stacked ribbons that no longer overlap
• Serial numbers on limited items — check the number on yours and see just how rare it is

The store also uses more of your screen on wider displays, and search is faster and no longer fussy about capital letters.

The forum has had a big round of improvements:

• Edit or delete your own posts, with a clear 'edited' marker
• Quote-reply to jump straight into a conversation
• @mention someone and they'll get a notification
• Get notified when someone replies to your thread
• View any member's full post history from their profile
• 50 posts per page for smoother reading

We also brought back posts from members who are no longer around, so old threads read the way they did back in the day. Staff have new tools for organising sections and categories behind the scenes.

Gamer-Island is more social now.

Post a status update and your friends can like and comment on it, and there's a feed showing what everyone's been up to so it's easier to keep in touch.

Groups get walls too — members can post on them (if the owner allows it), and you'll be notified about new activity.

Notifications have had a full makeover.

There's now a proper notifications page with icons, timestamps, a clear unread state, and paging so nothing gets lost. You'll also get a heads-up when someone accepts your friend request.

Badges are here! Earn them and they'll appear on your profile, each with its own icon and colour, and every badge is only ever handed out once — so they actually mean something.

To celebrate the relaunch we've also awarded some heritage badges to returning members:

• GIv2 Veteran — for the original crew who were here in the early days
• GIv3 Veteran — for everyone who joined us on the old site
• GIv4 Beta Tester — for the players who helped test the new site before launch

Staff can award new badges from the admin panel too.

Two big additions this time.

You can now send friend requests, and you'll get a notification the moment someone accepts yours.

We've also added daily Bux rewards. Log in each day to keep your streak going — the longer your streak runs, the bigger the daily payout (all the way up to five days), so it pays to check in often.

Groups are here! You can now create a group, browse the group listing, and join the ones you like.

Group owners can moderate their members and hand over ownership, and your groups show up on your profile too.

Gamer-Island 4 is now in open beta! We've rebuilt the entire site on a brand-new codebase, and it's live for you to try out.

Alongside the new foundation, this first beta brings:

• An admin panel for site configuration and moderation
• A proper permissions system sitting behind the ranks
• The ability to edit your bio and make your profile your own

Good news — the Gamer-Island Minecraft server is coming back!

We're putting together a custom modpack on Minecraft 1.12, featuring IndustrialCraft, BuildCraft, Applied Energistics, Ender IO and more. There's still some setup to sort out before launch, so it's a little way off yet.

We've added email verification to Gamer-Island. Head to your account page and hit the send verification button.

Until your email is verified you won't be able to post on the forums, send messages, or upload items — so get verified and you're good to go!

Error pages were made more descriptive and helpful across the site.

There is now a 25 bux login bonus, which you can receive once every 24 hours. Additionally, new accounts are now credited with 100 bux upon creation. All existing accounts have been credited with 100 bux to reflect this change.

Owners of items now receive the correct money when they sell a copy. All previous transactions have been re-ran to help affect this change.

Added password resetting functionality. Also transferred to new host, created issue tracker for admins

Public beta commenced, pushed to http://gamer-island.com/, registered users now get the basic default items, glitch with item upload names preventing spaces was fixed, forum issue where replying wouldn't work fixed, rank order issues fixed, database administrator rank added.

The main messaging client has been created, though functionality is limited. Buttons hide and show dynamically and multiple in-boxes are supported.

The footer has been redesigned, with icons and a less contrasting colour.

Additionally, a staff list has been added based on ranks, and the update log has been improved in a number of ways, including by giving it two columns and giving the time ago a better style.

Finally, the 'Hello, guest! Login or Register' bar was added for not logged in users.

Fixed significant security vulnerability that would allow users to set their own money and other statistics upon registration & set item as featured upon creation.

Items can now be purchased from the store. Transactions are logged & tax is supported, though currently there is no tax on any sales.

Users can now customise avatars, with a search bar and a variety of filters to help out along the way.

The accounts page has been created & contains links to the inbox, friends and avatar management. Settings will come soon.

The store page now allows display by featured, popular, limited, free and most recent. Additionally, searching and pagination have both been added.

Item uploading functionality is now present in the store, and the users page has been improved by adding an order feature and allowing order by activity, join date and alphabetical name.

You can now reply to threads correctly. Additionally, a few issues in the way that the forum orders posts have been corrected.

Thread posting is now working and threads can be posted on any sub-forum.

Users page now has a helpful loading indicator, the page to display threads is mostly complete and displaying correctly.
